
Mohammed Ismail Sherif, popularly known as Black Sherif and formerly as Blacko, is a Ghanaian singer, rapper, and fashion model, born on January 9, 2002, in Konongo, Ghana. He has quickly risen to become one of Ghana’s most influential contemporary artists, blending traditional Ghanaian sounds with modern Afrobeats, hip-hop, highlife, drill, and reggae influences. Black Sherif first gained attention in 2021 with his song First Sermon, released in May, which he followed with Second Sermon in July of the same year. These early releases showcased his distinct style, lyrical depth, and ability to connect with audiences, laying the foundation for his rapid rise in the music industry.
Black Sherif’s major breakthrough came in March 2022 with the release of Kwaku the Traveller, a hit single that quickly climbed to number one on the Apple Music charts in both Ghana and Nigeria.
