Gregory Bortey Newman, popularly known as King Promise, is a celebrated Ghanaian singer and songwriter recognized for his exceptional talent and versatility. He was born on August 16, 1995, in Nungua, a suburb of Accra, to Francis Newman and Angela Quaye. King Promise grew up in Nungua and pursued his early education at De Kings Academy, before attending Nungua Senior High School. He later furthered his studies at Central University, graduating in 2016.

King Promise officially entered the music scene in 2016 with the release of his debut single Thank God, which featured Fuse ODG and was produced by Killbeatz. From the start, he established himself as a versatile artist, effortlessly blending different musical styles. His work spans genres such as R&B, Afrobeats, Highlife, and Hip-hop, and he has since released numerous hit songs including Selfish, CCTV, and Oh Yeah, among others. His unique voice and artistry have earned him widespread acclaim both locally and internationally.

He is signed to the record label Legacy Life Entertainment, which is managed by Gervin Ohene Addo. King Promise has collaborated with several prominent artists, including DJ Vision, who featured him on the track Double Trouble, a song that dominated radio charts for weeks. His talent and dedication have also been recognized through numerous awards, such as Best Male Vocalist of the Year at the UK edition of the Ghana Music Awards and Hiplife Song of the Year at the 3Music Awards. With his growing influence and commitment to his craft, King Promise continues to make significant contributions to Ghanaian music and the broader African music industry.
