Michael Owusu Addo, professionally known as Sarkodie, was born on July 10, 1985, in Tema, Ghana. He is a highly acclaimed rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the Ghanaian music industry. Over the course of his career, Sarkodie has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Ghana Music Award for Artiste of the Decade, and international recognition, such as the Best International Flow Artist award at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards. He is also credited as one of the main proponents of the Azonto genre and dance, which helped popularize Ghanaian music and culture globally.

Sarkodie is celebrated for his versatility as a rapper, frequently performing in Twi and skillfully blending hip hop, hiplife, and Afrobeats in his music. Since beginning his professional career in 2005, he has built a strong reputation for lyrical dexterity, storytelling, and innovative collaborations with both local and international artists.
